Testing

The Ergosun solar tiles underwent a series of rigorous industrial testing measures to ensure they are of a consistently high quality and meet the performance, resilience and safety standards required to operate under the range of possible weather conditions they may be exposed to.
These included;

Damp-Heat Freeze Test – +80°C to -45°C – (200 cycles over 1000 hours) to ensure that the tiles are able to withstand extremes of temperature and humidity

Impact Test – 25mm iceballs hitting the surface at 90kph – to ensure strength protection from impacts such as hail

Wet Leak Tests – to ensure resistance from rain water

Fire Resistance Tests – to prove its fire retardant properties

Salt-Mist Marine Test – to prove its resistance to coastal weathering

Based on a south facing roof producing 850kWh per kWp. Co2 offset figues using the SAP calculation method - 0.568kg per kWh

Installation

Fitted to the roof in exactly the same way as a traditional tile, the complete solar roof system including the additional standard tiles, wiring and inverter can usually be fitted by Solarmass trained installers in under a day. Once fitted to a traditional timber batten with a standard roofing nail, the male to female plugs are then connected behind the tiles to create rows of up to 50. Utilising a unique tile connection design to minimise overall wiring and ensure effective coupling of panels in a flexible array. Each row is attached to a combiner wire, leaving only two wires to run from the roof to the inverter. The design also allows obstacles such as roof lights etc. to be easily circumnavigated.
