Summary of inverter function and why we use Fronius as part of the Ergosun system package

Solar inverters are an integral part of any solar system. Also known as grid-tied inverters, they convert the direct current (DC) electricity produced by your Ergosun solar roof tiles into alternating current (AC) electricity that can either be used to power domestic appliances or exported back to the grid.

We typically supply models from the popular Fronius solar inverter range as part of our Ergosun systems. These European manufactured inverters include sophisticated solar monitoring which produces live data on your solar energy production, consumption, what you are selling back to the grid and your general level of self sufficiency. There are, however, a wide variety of other established makes and models available, which can be supplied at the customer’s request if there is a particular model you would prefer.

Fronius inverters are ready for the Smart Grid of tomorrow. The inverters are optimally equipped to meet the technical requirements of grids in the future. A series of smart functions, known as Advanced Grid Features, are built into the devices. These include a number of control functions for optimum feed-in of reactive power and effective power. These functions are designed to enable stable grid operation even when the PV system density is very high and to prevent unwanted interruptions to feed-in and associated yield losses. Fronius inverters therefore help to guarantee the yield of your Ergosun solar roof tile system. Furthermore, where feed-in limits are imposed, Fronius inverters can provide dynamic feed-in control with self-consumption taken into account. Just connect the meter and set the feed-in limit.
SuperFlex Design

SuperFlex Design

The Fronius SuperFlex Design combines all the system design requirements into a single inverter form. Two MPP trackers combined with a high system voltage and wide input voltage range guarantee maximum flexibility. Every DC input, and therefore every MPP tracker, is able to accommodate the entire nominal output of the inverter. The result: an inverter for every application. Thanks to the SuperFlex Design, a single inverter can cope with any challenge – including different roof orientations, shading of one or two strings, or the use of residual modules.
Dynamic Peak Manager

Dynamic Peak Manager

The Dynamic Peak Manager is a new MPP tracking algorithm that dynamically adapts its behaviour when searching for the optimal operating point. The special feature is that the Dynamic Peak Manager automatically checks the entire characteristic curve of the system on a regular basis and finds the global Maximum Power Point (GMPP), even in partial shade.

Automatic HF transformer switchover

Fronius transformer inverters use a high-frequency (HF) transformer. The automatic transformer switchover facility produces three efficiency peaks. The result: a constant level of efficiency across the entire input voltage range, resulting in higher yields. Other advantages of HF transformer technology are the compact, lightweight design and safety as a result of the electrical isolation.
Open data communication

Open data communication

It is easy to connect Fronius inverters with components from third party suppliers. The open Modbus TCP SunSpec standard protocol provides a simple way of establishing a data connection to other systems. The protocol is used via the existing Ethernet interface, guaranteeing reliable communication.

Ready for Storage

The storage solution from Fronius is a compact system which can be adapted to individual requirements thanks to its modular design. All the functions are built into the inverter so that it can be expanded into a comprehensive storage solution at any time. The device can be used simply as an inverter with emergency power function and no battery, or as the full version with a battery and emergency power function. Multi Flow Technology

Multi Flow Technology

Using Multi Flow Technology, different DC and AC energy flows are possible in parallel. On the one hand, this allows energy from the modules and from the battery to be made available for domestic use at the same time. However, it is also possible for the energy from the modules to be simultaneously fed into the battery and the in-house network. Furthermore, not only can the battery be charged from the DC side, but also from the AC side (for example from your Ergosun PV system or other energy source, such as a wind turbine). The inverter manages these energy flows in such a way that the highest possible degree of self-sufficiency is achieved.

    SnapINverter mounting system



    One of the special features in the design is that the connection compartment is separate from the power stage set compartment. They are installed separately. The connection area and all its cabling is fitted to the wall first. The power stage set compartment is fitted afterwards.

    The innovative SnapINverter mounting system makes installation and servicing extremely user-friendly. The inverter is simply placed in the wall bracket before being swivelled into position and then secured. It is not necessary to remove the entire inverter for servicing, just the power stage set compartment. All the cabling, settings and configurations remain in place. This allows for any maintenance to be done simply and quickly and minimise any potential system downtime.

Your Ergosun PV system can be monitored, analysed and reviewed quickly and easily using the free Fronius Sola.Web online portal and mobile app. Clearly displayed, realtime system data can be accessed at any time. The portal and mobile app are user-friendly and easy to use, and include a comprehensive range of analysis functions to track the performance of your solar system. Up-to-date system production output and historical data values can be viewed at the touch of a button

The most important information at a glance

The start page contains a monthly diagram and a power diagram with key system data, important user information as well as any warning messages. Current system data are transmitted automatically to Fronius Solar.web at regular intervals.
